Fast and Slow

Things here happen fast and slow. No one shows up for a few days and then they all show up on the same day at the same time.

We bid farewell to the dumpster and driveway potty - yahoo! The boys are back to playing basketball in the driveway and we can actually park close to the house. The driveway took a beating from the dumpster. Just add it to the list. I never knew our front yard would look like a pit when construction was nearly done. I have a call in to a landscaper. I hope I didn't sound desperate!

My light fixtures have been a bone of contention. I had to buy a lot of them. Or at least what felt like a lot of them. I have looked and looked. Online and in store. I might have mentioned it, once or twice, already on this blog. I have purchased light fixtures from here, there and every where. I guess I am not one to walk in to a retail shop and drop 4 figures on light fixtures. What I have ended up with is beautiful (at least I think so), each has a story, and I certainly got a few gray hairs over it all coordinating. If I never shop for another sconce again I will be happy.

Over the last few months, while watching Nate's show, I have noticed and liked the sconces on his set. I thought about them a couple of times, looked on his website for sources, didn't have any luck and moved on. Fast forward to a Restoration Hardware clearance center that is closing at the end of the month and look what I found for our living room. It wasn't until I was home and catching up on Nate episodes a few days later that I realized they were the same light fixture. Yeah! Love them and love the white linen shade. They are the Nolan Double Sconce and retail for $259. My price...2 for $80.

Hmmm....add window treatments to the list as well as a coordinating light fixture for the foyer. Will the list ever end?

I do love lamps and light fixtures!
It's so exciting that your house is nearing completion!
We have quite aways to go, so I'm enjoying seeing others finishing up and get to the fun decorating stage!
